Azure Grimoire
ASURA’S WRATH
“GGRRRRAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!”
BRUTAL entry for Capcom comp. Couple hours speed drawing. I previously spent 4 hours on a completely different entry only to see it annihilated when my computer crashed. I had the exact same expression as the image above.
>:-O
Still working towards inking Every Name Taken when possible and hopefully getting it out in print before the end of 2011! You’ll ONLY be able to by it in the store for a while as I currently have no events planned. Check Twitter for comic updates and inane comments.
Baccano!
No More Heroines
My entry for the Grasshopper Manufacture and Fort90 Art Contest.
‘No More Heroes’ and ‘NMH2: Desperate Struggle’ are 2 of my favourite games of all time, not least because of the frenetic energetic gameplay conceived by Suda51 but also the chaotic stories of this cool cast of characters designed so well by KYMG. One of my favourite artists right now.
You’ll probably see the influence of ‘No More Heroes’ on ‘Tree of Skulls’ in future editions.
I wish I’d had the time to make more entries.
INTERMISSION
No ‘Every Name Taken’ this week due to too many other work commitments getting in the way at present.
To stop you throwing your computer out the window in a rage fit, here’s some concept art.
‘Every Name Taken’ is set in London, This piece was inspired by the lush parks of in the city. I don’t know.
TREE OF SKULLS AT THE FPI BLOG
Forbidden Planet International Blog have reviewed TREE OF SKULLS 1. You can read their write up here.
……………………………………………………………… I’ll leave you with this:
“Tree Of Skulls is available from Wynston W.H. Ross at his website. Where you can also have a look at Tree Of Skulls, but be warned, it’s an earlier version of the finished comic – and as such it’s rougher, missing some pages, containing first drafts of others. The finished comic is a more rewarding experience than the 14 pages online.”
…………………………………You heard the man. BUY! BUY! BUY! NOW! NOW! NOW!

St Valentine’s Day 2011 : Happy Birthday To We
A Year. It’s been a whole year! As of Valentine’s Day, Tree of Skulls is one year old and I haven’t got bored or frustrated enough to give up yet. Even though the site’s not very popular and (I’m paranoid[?]) it’s intentionally ignored by most of the UK and web comics ‘scene’.
Here’s to another year (????) *raises crunk goblet*.
Hm, Probably best to think of the site’s readership as ‘exclusive’ rather than sparse…
kissy kissy etc. xxxxxxxx \ (-_-”)/

Next Episode: Alarmed and Embalmed.
Finally got around to playing Dragon Quest IX. Been sitting on my shelf for the best part of a month collecting all the dust. If only my Ann custom character was as amazing as these amazing cool dudes!!
Bless you my child,
Please turn power OFF

Incidentally, If you’d like a better version of the comic with fancy finished tones and nice shadows and shit, You’ll have to buy the complete book when it’s available. It’ll be way nicer/better. Promise.
Next Episode: Bodies.
Also,Yeah I done one of this things…
I surrender, I made an influence map and made sure I was the latest to the party because I’m the coolest.
Influence isn’t really the correct word. None of these artists really influenced me, inspired me perhaps. In short, these are artists whose consistent art work I admire and look at and think “That’s really good”. I want to strive to attain that same personal level of aptitude like all these dudes, In my own style.
PS: There was no comic last week. I’m sorry about that, please assume the reason was damn good.

Ladies and Gentlemen, I give you, page 2. (standing applause/screams/fainting)

Happy Birthday Hayao Miyazaki!
Also, here’s a quick Nausicaä sketch I did as a Birthday Tribute to Hayao Miyazaki, who turned 70 on January 5th. I cannot express the extent of how the works of Miyazaki-san and Studio Ghibli have profoundly effected and influenced me, so this will have to do.

Happy Birthday!
Page 1, Every Name Taken
Here it is, Page One of Every Name Taken. Why did I call it Every Name Taken? There were loads of names I came up with and liked, but a Google search later and it turned out every name was taken – that is seriously not the real reason, you’ll have to keep reading to find out! Im not going to spoiler it.
Next Episode: sit down, stand up and introductions (20th/1/11)
In other news; way back at October Expo I picked up a copy of Warwick Johnson Cadwell’s Comic No.2: Kani. Fun to chat with, WJC drew me this sketch;

So, here’s some scratchy Kani fan-art I prettied up. I sketched this a while back when I was stuck on the phone, on hold, listening to some corporate tinny rendition of Mozart for a million hours. Oh God, I was on hold for a very long time.

WJC’s GUNGLE is out this year on Blank Slate Books. Hopefully I can get him to draw in that too!
